Between Blue and summer fruits, from fragility to ecstasy: Feigen Feigen is the third album by Léonore Boulanger. It is released on September 16 on Ana Ott (vinyl) and Le Saule (CD). Already the artwork suggests fairytale – a mirage between summer day and winter night. The record holds bizarre coincidences, which break through the seemingly calm waters of chanson and folk. The spontaneity in the music by Boulanger and her group indicates the mode of formation of the album between Paris and Berlin (for example, when we hear the fig dealer from Maybachufer sing, namely pretty good!) Boulanger studied drama in Paris, followed by a professional training of voice and ear from classical music to free improvisation. Her work reflects her wide interest from French Impressionism to African folk. Together with the sometimes clear, sometimes onomatopoeic Léonore, Jean-Daniel Botta and Laurent Sériès bring life to partially self-invented instruments and all sorts of collected objects. They turn to the concrete in front of the abstraction and put the French and German language in dialogue with the music of Central Asia and Africa. “On sun de son espèce le chant particulier” – Another record, a special singing.
